Just started drinking my fourth go at this kit, taste is good, body is good, colour is good, suprisingly - head retention was very good.

36 pints instead of the recommended 40.

I cant fault this for £6.99 and a bag of sugar.

Couldnt get online..SWMBO was hogging the imac! Taught my daughter to do a fek test, which wouldnt be so bad if she didnt keep running round with her drinks saying 'Fek Test" and holding it up to their faces!!

A boring one of my light!

I wish my mrs had good head retention

Is the Diprobase in the background the secret

I have a Youngs Def bitter, I thought it smelt rank when i was making it but its actually not a bad pint when made with spraymalt :thumb:

 CS

 There is a bottle of johnsons lotion there as well!!

you can never have enough lubricants to hand!!

I use the cheap kits as an everyday drink, and have a 'premium' kit in a keg for a now and then treat!

I was gonna use spraymalt with this but only had a half bag left, i need that for my nelsons revenge i'm starting this afternoon!!

Hi,

Thanks for this post and the pics. I've just bought this kit and thought I'd just check on here and see how others have got on with it. I'm interested in this talk of using spray malt, but have no idea what this is or how/when to use it in the brewing process? Is it a lot like Sex Panther spray? Does it work 60% of the time, all of the time?!? :D

Cheers

Hi, i believe using spraymalt will give a tastier, stronger, fuller bodied beer.

I personally use normal sugar, coz i'm tight, i do however cut the kit down to around 36 pints this gives it more strength and body.

good luck!!

Thanks Jon. I went for half spray malt and half sugar and for 36 pints as I read that tip somewhere too.
Its rocketed in its first few days of fermentation and I'm on 1014 on Day 3 so all is looking good!
Probably another thick question, but is it intended that this kit will create a carbonated bitter? any other tips or do I just treat it like the Youngs lager kit?

Thanks,
Dave

I'm not the most experienced member to answer that but i would use 0.5tsp per pint for a bitter and i think 1tsp for lager, or thereabouts,, my cheap kits go into 2ltr plastic bottles with two tsps normal sugar.
