I have left my Youngs American IPA in the garage for 6 weeks and although it has cleared up the taste is truly awful. Something must have gone wrong but as my first ever go I shouldn't have expected miracles. IM pretty sure the fact it took a while for my fermentation to start has something to do with the problem

Anyway I'm not going to be defeated so I'm off to buy another kit and try again. Can anyone recommend a lot that have made in the past that has turned out well. There are so many to choose from just fancy a nice easy to drink ale nothing to hop crazy

I would do something like a coopers English bitter and use beer enhancer and ferment for about 2-3 weeks at about 20C . You will have a good pint of beer with that for little effort.

The Coopers English Bitter may be a bit too hoppy for what the OP wants - I undersand it to be the most bitter of the Coopers kits. The Coopers Australian Pale ale is very mellow hop wise and is a very easy drinking pint

Sorry to hear about your IPA, where do you think it went wrong?
I'm fairly new to all this myself but bottled the Young's IPA about 18 days ago, same as you it took a while to get going but I tried a bottle today and it tastes fine.
My first attempt was my worst, it was a Coopers lager 1 can kit, very bland with hardly any fizz and tastes almost non alcoholic. It's put me off 1 can kits and plastic bottles even though it was my own fault and everyone else seems to get very good results from the Coopers kit, just not me. I find 2 can kits easier to make and so far they've always turned out great, probably through more luck than anything else even though I try my best to clean and sanitise everything.
If you're after an IPA give the St Peters IPA a try, I've just finished drinking a batch and it was fantastic - one I'll definitely be doing again
Cheers
