Hi there noob here with a quick yeast question.

Im hoping to follow a receipe for a Theakstons Old pec clone and its asking for 2oz of brewers yeast.
I take it this refers to dried yeast but is it not an awful lot?
Being new to this im a bit in the dark to amounts.

Any thoughts

Thanks

Aaron

It would probably refer to wet yeast (or slurry) which is a lot heavier.

For a 23l brewlength, just use one sachet of S-04 for that type of beer.

hi guys a question for ya.
im interested in useing a special yeast that can push alcohol level upto 20% or there abouts but its like 3.50 a packet.
i dont want to be spending that much on yeast everytime i make homebrew.
is there any way i can reuse the yeast sediments from the preveus brew.
ime assuming homebrew yeast is much like bread yeast in the fact that it can be cultivated of in therory i would simply have to buy the one packet and just keep it alive and ticking over in a jar untill my next brew.
or is there any way i can dry it out for easyer storage untill i next brew.
home brew yeast comes dried out in the first place so can it be done.

any advice will be most wellcome..

You may put the yeast on Agar/slants. That way I have stored and recultured yeasts after two years and more.

Meanwhile I have a handsome yeast bank already and any time I like to brew, can choose a yeast and let it grow.

I´m not sure whether the methode is already described here in the forum or not.
If not and you´d like to know how to do that, I´d like to explain to you.

looks like that:
