This is my latest batch of the OSH clone, pitched some Nottingham this time for a change. It was a new batch of dried yeast which I re-hydrated before use. 24 hours later it's got a bit out of control!
 
The ESB I bottled last week did exactly the same Rich. That was Nottingham too, & it was in the fridge at 18.5C which you'd think would calm it down a bit, made a right mess of the fridge/garage floor. Notts yeasties every where are making a bid for freedom...some sort of conspiracy perhaps :wha:
 
I was just wishing I'd kept some Notts back for that too. I'll have to buy some.

On the plus side I have a steamer with a pasta insert that I think will make a nice shiny micro BIAB setup!
 
Dark beers are prone to be more active and going over, next time for the first few days your better off having a blow off pipe into a jug with water than the airlock. :thumb:

But if you clip it down with a pipe into the hole all the yeast head will collect in a vessel to save going all over the floor.. :thumb:

17 days later it's at 1.008 but is still producing co2 through the airlock! The trial jar sample tasted lovely but why is something so vigorous now taking so long to finish? Very intriguing!
