Hi,

I'm new to brewing so bare with me please. I was wondering if it is possible to culture your own yeast from home and develop a style of ale it works with? I make my own sourdough culture for my bread from the flour and store it in the fridge between uses, build it up and then store the remainder again. Is something like that possible? Obviously I am aware it wouldn't be something I would attempt at this stage but thinking of it for future reference.

Yes it is. You might want to check this out. From what I hear most wild yeasts won't make nice beer, so persistence and patience is important. That said, I've loved everything I've tried from The Wild Beer Company.

That's how it's done. It does take work. Starting with slants. Then grow them on dishes with agar.
From what I've heard is yeast that grows on tomatoes is ok to use.
I mainly just reuse and grow my yeasts. Got some of the equipment ready to start culturing my own. I picked up these really small FV, 1.8 liters. I think they'll be great to try different yeasts and see the outcome.
