After cleaning and sanitizing some Wytchcraft Hobgoblin bottles, I discovered that my Youngs bottle capper would not cap them due to the shape of the top of the bottle! Lucky it was just the beer that wouldn't fit in my cornie rather than 40 pints worth!! Still a pain in the a*se though! Transferred them to other bottles, but probably introduced too much air and left half the priming sugar behind, so don't hold out too much hope. Oh well, you live you learn.

As far as i remember you need a table top capper to do the Wychwood bottles, i haven't go access to either so i can't be 100%

I've managed to cap the Wychcraft bottles with a youngs capper! its needs a certain knack! (you kind of work your way around the cap with the capper!)

it took me ages at first but it now takes me 5 secs to cap a Wychcraft bottle, they are a pain in the backside and its a good job I ony have 10 of their bottles!

Cheers for the 'heads up' on this Ash.
I too have a lever type crown capper and also have a number of Wychwood bottles which I was hoping to use at some point, after reading your post I tested a cap with one of the bottles and hey-ho no-go, just as well I have many more other bottles to choose from including some flip tops.

Agreed, Wychwood bottles can be a PITA.

There is a knack to capping them and it is possible with a Young's capper, but I will be getting a bench capper before too long. It's a shame as I have rather a lot of Hobgoblin bottles, but I'm trying to collect more Magner's and phase them out.

Ain't as bad as Bateman's bottles though.

Yes, I noticed, I had 4 Bateman's bottles (ex Summer Breeze) knocking around and did a test capping,

Unfortunately i didn't think about doing a test capping!

I can say, I have done both wychwood and batemans with my bench top capper from Greg with no problems.
