Working out wine %

Sorry for this if it's been covered before, I did look but cant find an answer anywhere, but how do you work out what % wine is when it has finished brewing?

You need hydrometer readings for Original Gravity (OG) and Final Gravity (FG).

Remove the decimal points.

Subtract FG from OG and divide by 7.36 (or 7.46, or 7.41 according to preference).

For example, OG = 1.090, FG = 0.992

1090 - 992 = ‘Drop’ of 98 points

98 / 7.36 = 13.3% abv : :drunk:
