Hi all,

I've got the Wherry on the brew, & so far it's not being too clever.

It's been 9 days so far on the primary fermentation. All went well until sunday, when it's gravity got to 1019, & it's only dropped to 1018 today. So it hasn't changed gravity in 4 days. :(

At first it may have been a bit cold, but now it's in a room of 20-21 degrees, & it's still going slowly. It's just taking a few more days than said on the box, thats all.

Am I just being impatient, or could I have done something wrong ?

Cheers...

I'd leave it for a while. I left mine fermenting for a good couple of weeks. The instructions can easily be doubled in reality.

Cheers
Simon

Wherry kits are notorious for sticking at a high gravity. Give the brew a gentle stir and make sure that the brew is at the right temperature. Take the advice from Simon, leave it a while (maybe another week) and it should drop some more.

what is the temp of the wort
sounds like its to cold really
ive done about 10 of these kits
usually 10 days to ferment then 2-3 months to clear properly to a real nice beer

No need to panic, time is the most important and possibly a gentle stir to rouse the yeast may help. I had mine in the bin for 4 weeks and it never got below 1020. It still turned out perfectly drinkable, if a little weak and a slightly sweeter than i would have hoped. I think the instructions in most kits assume you don't have the patience to wait so just give a minimum about of time until it will be fit to drink, which is nowhere near the same as when it will be best to drink.
