This is the first beer kit I'm about to brew. Normally used to doing small batches of Ginger Beer (Non hop kind), wine and small turbo ciders in demijohns.

I have a big brew barrel already. - Wilko Wide Neck Fermenter 25L

I then use a Wilko Syphon Kit, but I'm wondering if that wont be good enough.

Now as this is a 40 pint kit boiling and cooling the water etc is not going to be ideal. Can I use tap water or is it better to use bottled water?

Also how much priming sugar will I need per 500ml bottle? Also is it better to use glass or plastic bottles?

I plan to leave this for atleast a month once it's bottled. I will be starting this next weekend.

I use the wilko syphon kit, works OK if you're careful.
I use tesco or asda bottled water in my brews@17p bottle, you can even use the empties for your beer if you like.(asda ones best)
One teaspoon of sugar per 500ml bottle works well.
Glass bottles or plastic OK, I can't tell the difference to be honest, i usually do a mixture of the two.
