Hi Forum,

Quick question, probably been asked before.

I'm planning on making Mead this weekend.
I don't have any Mead Yeast in.
I've seen people use Champagne Yeast for Mead.
I don't have that.

I do have some Wilko Universal Wine Yeast. Will this do the job?

I reckon that stuff will do the job fine. There’s a special mead yeast that crossmyloof do but frankly, as long as the one you have has a good alcohol tolerance I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I mean, Mead is basically honey wine, right? And you’ve got a wine yeast innit. Bish bash bosh.

Don’t forget the nutrient!

Just made a wee drop of mead 1ltr, using bakers yeast for an experiment.
It fermented fine but i am not sure the taste is the best.
