Hello all, hoping you could help.
I've been brewing beer for about a year now and the missus has caught the home brew bug and wants to start making some wine.
After browsing the net for a while now I'm a little confused as to where to start.
6 Bottle kit or 30?
Can anyone recommend a good white wine kit?
Is there anything that might not come with a starter kit that she will need extra?
My main dilemma is whether to go for a kit that will make 6 bottles or one that makes 30.
There's probably loads more I need to find out but just want to get a starter kit ordered in time for Christmas.

Cheers!

Go for a 6 bottle kit then if she doesn't like it you don't have 20+ bottles of it left.

You don't mention a budget but like everything you get what you pay for, having said that a popular cheap kit you can get from Tesco id the WineBuddy Sav Blanc there is a review here - http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=49224

If you buy a starter kit it should have everything included, you may have to buy a hydrometer but i don't think you will need anything else.

Thanks for response. Budget probably up to £50 for the equipment and £20-£30 for the kit.
What are the differences between the different fermentation vessels? Is a glass demijohn better that a plastic vessel?

If you want to make six bottle kits they start under £10 , the 30 bottle kits start around £22, I prefer glass DJ's to plastic but it's just a personal thing, you can make a DJ out of a plastic 5 litre spring water bottle to save money when you are starting out.
If you intend to make 30 bottle kits get a bucket with a hole in the lid for an airlock, some members just use a standard bucket and lay the lid on the top allowing the CO2 to escape I prefer to see the bubbles going through the airlock so I know it's fermenting.
