Mobimikes, this site is mainly beer orientated
This site WAS very much beer orientated, and with a bias towards All Grain brewers, but it now has a much broader membership base and subject range, and with a very strong wine and cider making contingent.

The other forums are well worth a look though, and members are free to join however many they choose, many of the brewers also use jimsbeerkit.

Personally, although I respect the depth of knowledge on the Harris site, I find it very slow and sometimes stuffy.

Mobimikes - welcome to the forum

Many thanks to all for the effusive welcomes and the helpful advice :-)
I intend to be making wine/beer for the foreseeable future though I hope at first you won't mind if I just lurk in the shadows and learn by osmosis?
Once again, thank you all.

My sincere apologies for my delayed response.
The kit I bought was a "Young's ubrew cellar seven merlot seven day wine kit. This has now been bottled and on first taste is a bit light and thin but hopefully this will improve after a couple of months.

I haven't tried any of the budget/7 day, kits , but made quite a few in the £50-£75 range and they've all been full bodied and excellent.

If my finances are up to it I'll probably give one of the £50 kits a shot this month. At least the budget kit will give me something to drink until a quality batch is ready. I have a beer kit on the go at present also and will be bottling that at the weekend hopefully.
