I was looking for a thread where people post photos of their newly bottled wine, as I think it is nice to show off your creations to like minded people, especially if you have added nice labels, caps, etc. I always like to spend the extra few pence per bottle to make them look good, and when you do a 5 gallon batch they really look good!

So hopefully other people will follow my lead.....

Here's my latest, a wine expert selection series Barolo style kit.

Cheers!

LOL! That's what you call homebrew, right?!
I don't think I'll bother with the caps for a cheap gallon of WOW variant, but labels cost next to nothing, and helps to identify things if you have several batches for drinking. The bottles in your bottom photo look great, Roddy, just need nice labels! What is in them anyway? is that the Cellar 7 Merlot?

Yes indeed ! Good point about the labels for identification, not too much of a problem for me at the moment, consumption is equalling production, but I'm trying to put a stop to that (by making more !)

As i don't give my wine away i use plain sticky labels and make a note of what's in the bottle and when it was bottled, i put the next label on top of the previous one and after a few weeks i bin the bottle and start again with a new bottle (i use PET bottles)

Where do you get your labels from Andy? Was thinking of doing the same thing for a Beaverdale kit I'm about to start (mainly I just bag in a box as we get through the Cantina kits pretty quickly) but was unable to find a website that allows you to design your own labels that offered them for a reasonable price.

There are loads of "design your own label, and print at home" sites. a lot of them are free. You LHBS might also sell a generic label...ie CHAINTI etc

I usually design my own labels using photoshop. That's what I did is time, as the kit didn't come with any labels. The last 5 gallon kit did so I used those but I quite like making my own labels anyway. You don't need photoshop, you could just as easily do it with a free paint or graphics program, so long as you are familiar with it. First of all I got ideas by googling for wine label images, and there were thousands of course. I downloaded a nice vineyard image from one of them, then added my own text. I then arranged 8 on an A4 sheet and cut them up. I always use pritt stick to stick them on the bottles as it is easy to remove afterwards.

Don't pay for labels. Even if you just type the wine variety on a spreadsheet and print that, it doesn't have to be a label. Just use pritt stick like I do.

If anyone wants a semi-fancy wine label sheet on A4 I will gladly make one up and send you a printable version. All you would have to do is write on the wine type. Or I could send a word document so you could edit it yourself.

Nice work! Definitely worth the extra effort when you see an end result like that. I wish you had taken that photo with the 5D so we could see the finer detail though :D
