Hi

I made a Coopers Mexican Cerveza, following the instructions to the letter (used Beer Enhancer as well). I bottled the lager after 7 days in the fermenter (stopped fermenting at about 5 days) and used brewing sugar to prime my bottles. This was last Monday. I got impatient and tried a bottle on Saturday evening and it tasted like dish water. There wasn't much too it, there was no taste at all.

I know it's early, I just wanted to see what it tasted like.

I have now transferred all the bottles to the garage and will leave them there until Christmas time. Is it likely to improve, or as something gone wrong?

Thanks

Thats a good idea with kits time improves flavour. You may be surprised in a month when you taste it you wont think its the same beer, this happens especially with lagers :thumb:

i did this about 3months ago and thort the same as you after a week, but dont worry tried one after a month was great and after 3month just like the real thing

Slider,

In my humble opinion, I taste the brew just before bottling to give me an indication of what it's going to be like, so if it tastes okay before bottling and then tastes crap after conditioning (14 days or so) then I know it is down to bad sterilising at the bottling process.

The few bad batches that I've brewed tasted bad when bottling and never really improved much.

On the other hand I have never done a Cerveza, done a load of other Coopers kits so don't know for definite on this occasion

Hope things go well

I had the same problem with my mexican cervesa
Everything i brew now is left for at least a month before testing

it's hard when your wanting to try your brew but i'd rather wait 30 days and be happy than try after 7-14 days and feel gutted for nothing.

+1

My cerveza took about 8weeks to condition, I'd like to say I left it alone, but I was impatient, and tried one a week to see how it was getting along. it didn't change much for the first 4 weeks, but by week 6 I started to notice a difference. By week 8 it was quite a nice pint, by about week 10 it was finished

My Cerveza has been in the bottle for bottle for 4 months and is still flat with no taste. Won't be trying that one again in a hurry (just my opinion obviously)

Hi, thanks all for replying.

After bottling and priming with brewing sugar (about a quarter of a teaspoon - 284ml bottles) I left the bottles in a warm place for 8 days. I moved them yesterday to the garage where they will now sit until christmas.

The beer was carbonated yes, not a great deal, but there were bubbles.
