Hi,

My in-laws have copious amounts of wild hops in their garden in the summertime. Is there anywhere which can analyse them to understand their alpha acid % and/or the variety?

Would be great to brew with them.

In the US there is, but the problem is that each flower can be a bit different. You could send in several and maybe get a range.

I've been considering trying to grow hops, but since I'm not really willing to send samples out for testing each year I figured I'd just use them as whirlpool and dry hops. Even aroma hop additions wouldn't be a big deal.

Maybe try making a very simple small batch using them to see what you end up with. It ought to give you an idea as to the flavor/aroma you get and whether or not it's likely a high AA hop or not. Maybe target 30 IBU's for a mid-strength hop variety and see if it seems higher or lower.
