does it make any difference for the big bit at the beginning of a kit or the when priming ?

:drunk:

priming, not really. i stick to white for light beers and brown for darker beers though.

the big bit, yes. brown sugar imparts a deep molasses type flavour and a deeper colour (or lighter, for you stout nutcases) and white sugar imparts almost no flavour. it's imperative to some recipes, consider it for anything deeper than an amber ale.

cheers , i tend to like lighter drinks so i guess i may as well stick with the white .

thanks for info :)

if you like your stuff light, you could consider golden syrup or honey...they both impart different flavours and won't affect the colour much!

I primed half a batch with dark muscovado recently, I shan't be doing it again! Very odd aftertaste in those beers.

White sugar or brewing sugar preferably. They don't tend to change the taste of your beer too much.

im guessing suger would be cheaper ? at the moment its an exercises in saving money so unless i cant get good results the cheapest way i will be trying to stick to it .

if i don't like my next lager that i feel made without any balls ups :) i will try some of theses other ideas . cheers for suggestions d
