HI all , thinking of getting a stout on for my son who enjoys a pint of the black stuff ,seem to be stuck between a coopers and a brupaks ,would love to hear your veiws also any suggestions on things to add many thanks all

Try Youngs Harvest Stout. Pound for pound its a top beer (some brewers are put off because its so cheap). If you want to improve it even more, use 1kg of dark DME and use a dedicated liquid "Irish Stout Yeast"

thanks for quick reply johnnyboy, its not one id have thought of as you say bout being cheap but the liquid yeast would make defference for sure, and i had forgot that so thank you ,

coopers brewmaster irish stout is a cracking pint, i brewed with1 kg dark spraymalt it was stunning after a few weeks. a proper xmas drink

I did the Coopers Irish with all medium spraymalt then batch primed with treacle on someone's recommendation here.

It's a terrific pint. I'll be doing another one...

I've a Brewmaker Irish Velvet Stout kit to do , which I bought on the recommendation of my local homebrew store , he said it was very popular with his customers , he also sells a lot of Cooper's stout kits BTW.

I'm going to add a 1.5kg can of coopers liquid malt to it for extra body when I get around to doing it.

I'm just about to do this kit and have though about batch priming with treacle, how much did you use? I was planning on making it with 50/50 sugar and dark spraymalt.

This thread made me dig out a bottle - they're getting rare...

I primed at 115g which is just a wee bit too much. I'd go about 90g next time.
