I'm considering investing in a 25Kg sack of grain, but a little unsure what to get....

I'm mostly into pale ales, which seem to want ale malt or lager malt. I may possibly brew lager too...

Is Pilsen or Marris Otter a good choice? Or should I stick to ale or lager malt?

Thanks for your ideas

I was thinking about this the other day, been through a couple of sacks of MO myself, great stuff. However I'm now getting into more continental styles, I've made a Belgian blond with MO which was OK but lacked that grainy sweetness of pilsner. Depends what you want to make really, I'm sure pilsner would make a decent ale or stout. T

Maybe go for some Dinglemans pale ale malt , very nice . More malty than MO .

Hmmm, decisions, decisions.....

Is there any reason I can't use pale ale malt or marris otter to brew lager or pilsner?

I''m thinking of doing a batch or two over winter, and then doing some ales next year.

I use MM Crisp Lager malt to make lager, pale ales and also dark ales. Get a decent conversion from it too.

I put the sack in a plastic bin liner then put the whole lot in a plastic bin. We don't have any rats around here but you may want to put in a metal bin if there is any chance of a rat chewing through the plastic. :thumb:

I'm planning to keep mine indoors.....

The bottles live in the garage.... sometimes to my frustration. :D

I don't have the space for a bin and if I did I have no doubt swmbo would 'accidentally' think it was rubbish and throw it out! Think I might keep it indoors, in the bedroom, next to the bed :-) lol

Well, I went for the Crisps Ale malt... it has just arrived.

This is exciting!
