I am after a hop strainer, presuming something like this will fit onto a bsp fitting then, this would be ideal. Anybody any idea where I can get one, or even of a similar alternative.

Muddy, can you knock one of these up? :hmm:

Apoligies to bionicmunky for nicking your pic, I only wanted to use it as an example.

That unit comes from Beerbelly in Australia.

they are between about £36 to £81 depending on the model

However our very own Muddydisco has come up with THIS

not sure whether he is taking orders at the mo but you could always ask. I have one of his mash tuns and the work is top notch! :thumb:

Cheers for the info LB. It was a shame to find out some of that range has Chrome plated parts.

I too was impressed with muddys attention to detail having purchased one of his bottoms.

There has to be an alternative out there somewhere, will start looking to see if I can find a similar solution using perf tube with end caps (?) Or some filter type item from another industrial use.

No peeped man. Have you considered a hydrolic oil filter?

Try the stainless steel braid off flexible tap connectors :thumb:

Thanks for all your suggestion so far.

I may get a length of stainless pipe and drill some holes in it. Similar to the copper one from the previous brewery.

Problem is that it usually comes in 3m lengths.

I will keep looking over the next few weeks.

Push the boat out and get one like mine from BeerBelly! It's fantastic :thumb:

It looks the business hwm, but I am teetering down the road of knocking something up myself. Otherwise, I would go with this.

As an aside question: I know 316 is ideal, but is 304 good enough for brewery use, or is there not enough chromium/nickel/whatever in it.

You would be better off with one of these

looking forward to the pictures

What is that please Uncle P?
Will it stop hop pellets??

Its a 316 stainless steel filter element, & yes it will stop hop pellets and hot break etc etc, But you wont get one easily or cheaply, & I don't have any. Price expect a £ then 3 digits then the decimal point.

You need to speak to a process filtration specialist, or better still don't bother with a filter just build a whirlpool from a second hand keg or thermopot, If done right the trub will settle in a pile in the middle and you draw the clear wort of the side, after a 45-50minute stand, you would waste a bit of wort too though.
