So I've taken the plunge and tried out (I've actually borrowed two kegs and a co2 from a mate) and I proper love it. Seriously the conditioned beer is so much of a higher quality and you are able to create beer that is so much nearer (and better) that's commercial craft beer you can get on draft. I'm sold on it.

Now I've got a few kegs which i'm filling over the next few weeks I need to get a co2 bottle. And refills so I can purge and drink [emoji1303]

Where the hell do people around where I am (Petersfield) get c02 bottles and refills from without paying out another mortgage?

I got a 6.35kg cylinder from ALDD in Salisbury (November 2015 - just running out now) for £11.95 plus VAT delivered to my door in Botley. Worth emailing them to see if they deliver to Petersfield.

I don't know what the current price is, or if they still do private sales.

Andover patio centre. http://www.andoverpatio.co.uk/13/KG_Smith_and_Son_Pub_gas/

No deposit and I think the last one I got was about £25. Not sure about delivery as I always call in to pick one up. At that price I keep a spare as well.

Well today I ordered my 6.35kg food grade Co2 canister from Andover patio centre. No rental, and no deposit, including delivery the total was........

£16.75p what a result!!!!

Thanks @dad_ale !!!

ps all co2 is 'foodgrade' until its packaged as something else.. there is no special foodgrade co2 production facility ;)

I ended up getting a smaller bottle through Adam's Gas. OK prices (there's a reasonable deposit on the bottles, though no rental to pay). Refills aren't too bad and they have the smaller 3.15kg cylinders (ideal if you want to put the bottle within the fridge).
