When to start a bitter kit for xmas

right, i have four ltrs of sloe gin steeping for xmas.

I'd like to have a bitter kit ready for xmas, is it too soon to start now or will it keep ok??

With proper cleanliness it will keep, although I'd probably wait until the end of October to give it a nice two months before drinking.
