Wheat Beers can they be clear?

I've made a fair few brews containing wheat or torrified wheat, they always come out hazy to a lesser or greater extent. Is this a feature of all wheat beers or is it just me? I love the grainy taste wheat adds and I'm not put off by a bit of haze but I'm just curious.
 
In short all wheat beers are cloudy unless they have been filtered , in fact the correct (or common) way to drink a heff weizen is with whirling the last drop to get more yeast and thus insuring cloudy beer , although its the protein from the wheat that causes it to be cloudy
 
What proportion of wheat or torri wheat have you used in the brews that were cloudy?

As pittsy said wheat beers will usually be cloudy from the proteins and yeast but if you are just talking about ales with a few hundred grams of wheat in them then usually it won't be a real problem...
 
Cool that's good to know! I've even been using a "protein rest" part of the mash in an effort to clarify things. Generally I have used quite a lot of wheat, I really like it in most styles of beer. Thanks T
 
I've noticed that all the kit beers I've made turned out crystal clear, much more variable results with my AG brews. Maybe the concentration process breaks up some of the protein that contributes to chill haze?
