So I'm usually a beer man, but decided to try a wine kit. It's a young's sauvignon blanc kit. The instructions say to leave it for 6 days to ferment, and then check that the gravity is at 0.996. If not, leave it another day.

Well it's been 2 weeks now and the gravity is holding steady at 1.022. Im pretty sure the fermentation has stopped.

Should I just go with it - add the stabilisers and get ready to bottle it as is? Or is it worth waiting longer? Or is there anything I could do to re-start the fermentation?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

First thing to do is give it a good shake and see if it starts up again, try and make sure the room temp is around 20c. If it doesn't then taste it. If its not to sweet for you then you could press on with the stabiliser, finings and bottling. . I like dry wine so i would most likely add more yeast and nutrient to re- start the fermentation and ensure it finishes below 1.00
