Whats the oldest crushed grain ypu have brewed with ??

Just wondered how long you can keep crushed grain and stillbrew with it. How old have you gone ??. 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or even more.

If you are talking about PM then <1 yr, as to adjunts (Black/Crystal etc) >5 years.

Yes, Pale Malts and Speciality grains (crushed not whole), I myself have brewed with 2yr old crushed Maris Otter and found no difference in the gravity of the wort. Any advance on 1yr

Yes, I would say about a year and resultant brew was OK :thumb:

Crystal malt from Sept 2010,

and a bag of black malt thats certainly a lot older older :whistle:

NB my adjuncts were kept in a drawer, so away from light & mice. I have a bag (~20K) of UNCRUSHED PA that I keep meaning to test, it is >6 years old.
I may do a 1Gal batch to see if I just put it in the recycling with the waste from the MT.
