We are also looking for a venue in London for our BrewDog Beer Academy: a bottle shop, home brewing supply shop, 10 barrel craft brewery with interactive brewing sessions, home brewing classes and a BrewDog bar all rolled into one.

They did start off as home brewers so I shouldn't really be surprised that they have spotted the current trend...

It would be great if they started making and selling beer kits.. I for one would put my order in ASAP for their Punk IPA kit! That's in my top 5 beers for sure..

I had my first brewdog beers this week, in their new pub in Bristol. Now, admittedly, I do have a cold at the moment, but I have to say, I wasn't impressed. I had a pint of punk IPA and one of 5am saint and other than the colour difference, thought they tasted pretty similar!

I know their philosophy is to chuck bucket loads of hops into their brews, but to me, this removed all the subtlety from the taste and I actually think the Woodforde's Admiral's Reserve I made last month is a nicer pint!

Maybe when my cold has gone I will try again, but at £4.50 or so a pint, I won't be rushing back, plus the place was full of hipsters, which is always a danger sign

agreed, i can only drink 2-3 pints of any brewdog brew, quite similar and wierdly cloying, but there are definate hop differences. As for their homebrew shop, will be interesting to see if there hop prices are any better than the usual highstreet ones...

Then I can definitely recommend avoiding their pub in Camden, London: massively overpriced and full of hipster wankers in retro cartoon t-shirts. I'm not a fan of over-hopped beers either. It strikes me as a lazy way to disguise an otherwise dull beer: I should know, I've done it a few times myself!

:)

I've been there a couple of times and I kind of agree! The staff were well trained though, and they have lots of interesting guest beers if you're into those styles.

I'm not a big BrewDog fan either, but credit where it's due - especially for a bar that trains its staff in the beers they sell!

Now, I like BD beers - albeit in small quantities - but I think they might struggle. The problem is that people who go to the BD Homebrew shop will be wanting to clone BD beers.

And given the amount of hops they use for late and dry hopping, it's going to be a bloody expensive kit, negating the perceived benefit to a large proportion of the public. Especially when you can buy DPC, 5AM, P-IPA and Alice Porter from supermarkets at less than £2 a bottle.

The only hope is that they pass on their bulk buying benefits to the public, making things like Simcoe hops more readily available and for sensible money.

But yes, I can envisage a whole wardrobe of anti-establishment BD clothing being available...

will the kit include a 1978 Ford cortina ashtray so you can soak it in your brew to get that brewdog ashtray piquancy.
