So I havent brewed since August, problem is im a lazy git and didnt clean my bottles since I last emptied them, they look pretty grimy any tips?

Same question really with mini kegs, any great tips on cleaning them thoroughly as I have a Woodfordes Wherry and Mexican Cerveza to bottle at the weekend.

All help appreciated.

I don’t know if this helps but I didn’t clean my 25 litre “economy” barrel out since I brewed last, (about 2009). I decided to get another brew on the go the other day and when I got my barrel out I realised it hadn’t been washed out properly. There were scum lines around the top and a lot of crap in the bottom. As its cheap and a narrow opening I couldn’t get my arm in or direct the brush very well. I put about 2 tablespoons of WVP cleaner/sanitizer in, filled with hot to warm water and brushed as much as I could. Filled it back to the brim replaced the cap and gave it a good shake. The next day I emptied it and it looked pretty clean. I gave it another 2 cleans and rinses before kegging to make sure with less amounts of sanitizer and water and it looked and smelt clean. I’ll let you know when in a week or 2 whether it worked when I see if my beer has died or not. That WVP did work well on some ropey looking demijohns I had as well.

I ask my wife and usually works :D

Got to brew some beer she likes, but that's the breaks.

Soak with some kind of Oxi cleaner.

I use this (when its on offer):http://www.supaprice.co.uk/p/result.jsp?ga=uk11&q=vanish+oxi+action

Seems to clean most things. Boil some water, chuck a spoon or two in and leave to soak.

As for bottles if you have the luxury of a dishwasher you could stick a few at a time in that? (never tried it myself but other people on here do it..................... prehaps I would if I had a dishwasher......)
