One of my early AGs - Perle bitter did not want to clear and so I stored it in the cool to allow time to do it's thing. In the mean time it has become very lively, to the point where you only get about a third of a glass of beer before the head overflows and the excess gas brings up all the dead yeast from the bottom of the bottle if you continue. Not good for serving up in the lounge without needing a carpet shampoo-er so I decided to try making beer bread with it.
Could not be simpler and it was excellent. Just added a complete bottle of beer to three cups of self raising flour, a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of sugar. Mix together and let the excess gas create the rise in the dough. Bake in the oven for a lovely home made bread.
Any-one found any other uses?
