What size gas tank

I’ve just sourced a small chest freezer to convert to a keezer and am looking at co2 suppliers, I was wondering what size tanksnithers have and how long they tend to last

I seem to have a choice between 3.15kg and 6.35

The answer may partly depend on where you want the gas bottle(inside the keezer or outside). I have mine outside, but that's because my chest freezer was tiny (can fit a 19L corny and 5 or 10L SS keg).
I only recently began kegging, so can't say how long the gas will last, though it'll largely be dependent on how quickly you get through your kegs.

The 3.15 kg is smaller and lighter, handy if you are short of space or intend to move it periodically. The 6.3kg works out more economical in the long run.

Depends if you want the CO2 cylinder inside or outside of the keezer. If you want it inside you won't be able to close the lid if you get the 6kg cylinder. If you're going to keep it outside then I would get the 6kg cylinder as you will almost certainly get more CO2 for the money. Take Adams Gas as an example - their 3kg and 6kg cylinders are more or less the same price even though you're getting double the gas with the 6kg option.

I have a 6kg bottle, 6 gas lines and 4 cornys usually connected all the time. We get through about 1 keg a week and my current gas bottle is still going after more than 5 months. Previously a bottle only lasted 1-2 months until I re-did all my connectors and pipes so I guess I don't have any leaks now

I have a 6.35 bottle and it's lasted me 10 months but I think it's on its way out, I have 3 kegs gassed all the time and blast carb every brew. Yours will last you ages

I brew at a similar rate and have a 3 keg kegerator, burst carbonate everything I make and produce the odd bottle of sparkling water for the kids. My Adams 6.35kg cylinder is still going for what is probably 14 months after I got it.

Awesome thanks, I’m thinking the smaller one to start hidden in the keezer and upgrade if need be. Thanks for all the advice guys

I use an Adams Gas 6.35kg and I'm on keg #16. I use CO2 to force carbonate, serve and push cleaning fluids through the lines. My gut feel says it has to run out some time soon so I've got a second full one on standby ready to swap over. Mine stands outside the keezer where I can see it and adjust without having the lid open, not to mention leaving all the internal space for the stuff that counts :)
