what is your hot break like

That's not the hot break. That's just protein scum when you're coming to the boil.

The hot break is usually from about 45 minutes onwards into a decent boil where the wort starts going very clear and you can see white "flecks" in it.

ah i see,
i get the small flakes but not the scum... :wha:

I wouldn't worry too much. I'd rather not get that stuff.

Do you suffer clarity problems?

are you going to TST James ...?

Afraid not. Got too much on my plate trying to sort out North Wales Beer Festival, brewing at one brewery and trying to set up another. Oh, and I'm getting dragged out to look at wedding venues

I've started to " skim the scum" with a slotted spoon. Can't tell if there's any major improvements as yet.

probably a good idea..... :thumb:

i dont get any floating scum ....should i ... :wha:

i do get a nice likkle mountain of white material in the boiler after whirlpooling :thumb:

i dont chill in the boiler [ i no chill] so there is effectively no cold break...
