I have a Coopers lager in a newly purchased cornie keg that does not taste all that impressive at the moment, hoping it improves dramatically in the coming weeks.

I have a Coopers wheat beer bottled for only a week, tested one last night, no head to speak of but was quite surprised by how nice it tasted already. ;)

So!, now I've got the bug, what I really want to know is......

What is your favourite kit? Which has been the most impressive you have tried? :hmm:

Three of them that I would say were top notch:

- Better Brew IPA, made with LME and dry hopped with Chinook
- Muntons Gold Midas Touch dry hopped with East Kent Golding (maybe the best kit I made...)
- Ritchies Festival London Porter

As of last night, Brewferm Abdij. Great if you like the dark trappist styles. Think Rochefort 6 as a guide. Terrific, even though I need to keep my hands off it for a while!

My Woodforde's Wherry has come out great too, though I dry hop it, use extra yeast and brew to 21.5 litres.

having only done 2 kits before biab, wherry is definitely worth doing and is a brilliant pint even made to the instructions.

I think you get what you pay for. the Wherry is good but for me the best kits I have done are Barons Plae Ale, Barons Canadian Golden Ale and Brupaks Beers of the World Belgium Christmas Ale (This is really excellent!!!). All 3 have knocked the socks off the toucan kits I have done.

You do get what you pay for. So far my fav has been Festival Golden Stag, but I had very good results with the two Wherrys, they just need A LOT of patience

- Wherry
- Coopers Stout
- Coopers European Lager (with an extra hop tea bag)
- Muntons Bock (no one seems to mention it on here, but surprisingly good and moorish)

For the 1-can kits, brew them short and with Enhancer rather than sugar :thumb:

...unless they're designed to do a smaller batch size, like the Brewferm one I mentioned.

Surprisingly, Young's Harvest Mild, I like this one a lot. I enhanced it with something, sure, although I don't remember exactly what. Probably just some DME and interesting sugar. Plus a lot of the ones mentioned above are excellent too, depends what you like, really.

when you say short... you mean... time-wise short or short in the sense that you use one can, but less water? If so, how much would you make up?

Thanks!

Brewing short means less water, for example brew to 20l instead of 23l. Instead of doing that, with 1-can kits I add extra DME / LME / hops.

If you liked the coopers wheat beer try muntons conisseurs wheat or even better is brupaks west riding wheat which is my favourite by far

St peters ruby red and ipa are lovely, ive also enjoyed all of the richies festival kits. Barons mexican cervesa was a very good kit also.
