Hi guys,
As I have a few all grain brews under my belt now I thought I'd create something of my own.
Up to now I've used or packaged kits from Malt Miller.
I have an order on the way but only one grain, Maris Otter plus a mix of hop packages.
So I thought I'd try a smash using MO and Willamette hops.
I've never used Willamette hops but they look interesting...

The bill is below, Brewfather considers it to be a Golden Ale.
Before the stuff arrived and I get stuck in is appreciate any advice on my proposal.

I'm assuming I'll end up with a malt forward beer with floral and fruity notes?

I've not used Willamette either but based on what I've read about it being primarily an aroma hop I wonder whether you might get the best of the flavour using it at whirlpool/aroma stand rather than at flameout. There's a write up about Williamette at brulosophy that makes it sound a really attractive SMaSH brew, it will be great to hear how your brew turns out 😄.

I have done several single hop brews with Willamette and makes a fine beer. I used around the same amount of hops for bittering but a lot less finishing hops, around 25gm. Also only boiled for 60mins.

Excellent, thanks all.
I’ll have a dig into the best practice with regards williamette hop timings but I’m chuffed no one has said the core of the recipe is off - result!
DPD have the goodies so I’m expecting a delivery next week now.

Couple of thoughts from me;

I have used Willamette though not extensively. IIRC I think it's an American derivation from fuggles.

Same here, I don't think you're gaining much from a 90min boil, 60 would be plenty (personally I do 30mins as standard but that's just me 😉). I doubt you'll see much difference in the IBU contribution if you reduce from 90 to 60mins.

With the late hop additions I'd be inclined to split your 70g up a bit stagger them a bit with additions starting at, say, 15, 10 & 5 mins. I think this will add a few more notes to the chord, if you see what I mean. (If you want less to do then just go with 10 & 5mins).

You can still keep some back for flameout if you like - think about whether you will literally chuck them in at flameout and chill immediately, or if you will do a hopstand for, say, 5-10 mins.

So maybe something like 10g at 15mins, and then 20g each at 10, 5 & 0mins.

Good luck, have fun and report back 👍🍻

Cheers @matt76 much appreciated.
I have cut the boil to 60 mins, I’ll have a look at dialling in the 30 min boil plus the staggered aroma additions and see what falls out.
I’m still waiting delivery and my Verdant Lightbulb clone is at the end so I need to get another IPA running ASAP too! 😆

I’ll report back with how it all went guys 👍
