Hey all,

Right. So im going to start brewing but iver never really tried bitter. I usually drink cider or larger. Was just wondering what a good first bitter would be to try.

P.s. Going to try kits at first.

Thanks. Elts

Why don't you just brew some lager or cider to start with if that's what you normally drink.
+1.

I certainly wouldn't attempt to have a first try at bitter with a homebrew can kit (assuming thats what your using as a new starter) as it won't give you an accurate representation of either what bitter should taste like and thereby what to aim for if you are brewing one. Get to a supermarket and buy some bitters to try and get a feel for it - or better yet, a pub :D.

I would either hold off until you know roughly what your after, or brew a drink you are used to like cider or lager.

If you usually drink lager I would recommend the Coopers Australian pale ale. I normally drink lager and I found this a good mid point from lager to bitter.
