3rd pint from the cornie. Happy with this, don't know if the pic really shows the difference from pint 2, but this is what I was aiming for.

Tastes wise, it's mouth waterlingy bitter. Which just makes it moreish.

Was at a wee beer festival in my town and had the following:-

Speyside Espresso stout - very nice, top stout

Kapoulas Red Rye IPA (an experimental beer by Speyside brewery) - outstanding they should brew this in bulk.

Finished up with Old Jock a traditional Scottish Ale and a very good one.
 
Apprently, after extensive research, it appears to be from the 1930s when 'wall to wall' carpeting arrived.
This then morphed into meaning 'everywhere you could have something was covered, leaving no spaces unoccupied'.
Does that match your experience? 😉
Well my experience was usually from the rear, she was a wall to wall garlic eater, a snack was bread and butter with a garlic filling. Nothing worse when someone has been eating garlic and you haven't!
 
Went to my favourite bottle shop in Sevenoaks today. We discovered a new tap room has just opened a few doors up from the bottle shop so we had to call in. It turns out it’s actually a micropub but very nice all the same and they’re still getting organised. Anyway, I bought a few beers in the bottle shop including 3 I’m not sure that I’ve had before. I’m going to start (err..again) with these three.

First up the Duchesse De Bourgogne. This is a 6.2% barrel aged dark Belgian beer. The aroma is sweet and sour, and a little dark dried fruit. The flavour is mouth-wateringly exciting - tart (acetic), fruity, woody (old damp wood not fresh vanilla from American oak), and is oxidised but in a good way of course. I will buy this one again.

Edit: This beer reminds me a little of my old nan’s remedy for sore throats, blackberry vinegar!

Edit 2: Actually I don’t think I will buy this again. What started as exciting and tantalising flavours became too much like sweet fruity vinegar by the end of the glass. I think I’ve fused my taste buds! 😂

I was only introduced to the duchess last winter. It's an exceptional beer, but only one glass at a time for me due to its tartness. I can see why you weren't as keen on it by the end of the glass

That’s an impressive haul.
 
Celebrating? Part of me hopes you are, the other part hopes you're just drinking Champagne because you can and its fun.

Celebrating the birthday on this occasion, but we do occasionally have a bottle of champagne on the afternoon sun when it's a nice day - as you say: because we can. 😁

Excellent! I think Champagne tastes best drunk for no good reason at all on a Tuesday afternoon!

Quick catch up as I have to carve pork very soon.
1st last night's Manzanilla Passada preprandial.
I just love this dry nutty toasty sherry. We had it with fish Nepal style (call in).
Then again tonight pre the pork.
Ihad to have a beer though on such a beautiful evening in the sun.
Cheapest Lidl Rhone will be had with the pork.
Now!
Must go, SWMBO'd is calling.
