Back into civilisation. After enjoyong a warming Porter I moved on to my version of a Bass Pale Ale, bottled on the 23rd October so still green and tastes so, but cleared nicely, and will be a worthy beer.

My English IPA, slow maturing at a lower temperature, much like the previous beer, crystal clear and still with a heavy hop presence. Cheers.

Gee but it's great to be back home
to further sample this latest creation with Challenger Citra and Chinook hops. Nice but should be a bit more subtle in a few weeks.

Evenin' all.
First up is a pint of Dortmunder Pilsner l started in April this year.

This bottle was a little heavy in the yeast deposit after priming some of which poured over, but doesn't taste it.
And it has condition and a head.
I know!

Off out to the fleshpots of Alderney with some fishin' buddies. Not expecting too much good beer out there so cracked this as a warm up. Very nice and citrusy.

Ooh this is amazingly good. (these old bottles aren't all, surprisingly! ).
My pale ale from a whole year earlier - May '21.
Hops are Admiral and First Gold, then more First Gold and EKGs.
The yeast deposit stayed put in this, unlike the previous beer.

This particular one is only available in the bottle but Holdens is an excellent brewery with pubs mainly in the Black Country proper or neighbouring villages such as Trysull in South Staffs. I do not think I have set foot in Stourport since about 1977 but in that area look out for beers by Hobsons or Wye Valley (HPA is fabulous when kept well) or Purity from nearby Warwickshire. All three breweries produce dome great stuff but if you come across a tied Holdens pub it should be sound.

Ties in with other post about cheese and onion cobs, Bull and Bladder or Vine to give it it's proper name near Merry Hill centre in Brierley Hill is worth a punt. Shopping and beer, every ones a winner. Also Ma Pardoes in Netherton or Green Duck. You like your cycling so Fixed Wheel in Blackheath could be worth a visit. Love black country beers!

Some seasonal Sainsbury's offerings: Winter Warmer and Christmas Porter, both brewed by Charles Wells.

Both decent, but prefer the Winter Warmer I think.
