Welsh derby in the URC so I will stick with the Welsh beers.

First up a amber ale, also labelled has a best bitter. I wouldn't normally pick this up but it was pack of a gift pack. Not for me, too thin and weak.

Next, another bitter, named after one of the nicest blokes I have met.

A nice enough bitter. Only ever made one bitter and it was nice enough.

Bitter is a strange one, so many variants, I never know if it's an English pale or an English bitter. Time for some reading.

This ones @matt76 english amber, opened with a little hiss, nice pour, initial thick head dissipates but doesnt disappear. Well carbonated, perfect for the style as usual. Slight chill haze, but I wouldnt notice it unless I was looking for it.

A yeasty aroma which becomes more hoppy as it warms, pleasant. Flavour wise, more lagery than I thought it was going to be, not complaining, just surprised me. Quite malty, had to scan the recipe, can definitely pick up the vienna. I noticed it was ekg hopped, I picked that up because it's not my favourite at all, but the maltiness balance that out nicely (for me).

Quite dry in so much that it pickers my mouth up a little bit, and that's the best I can describe that sensation. 😀

Overall it's nice, not my favourite but I would certainly have another. Thanks for sharing! View attachment 60582
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback 👍

Really interesting you picked up on that little hint of yeastiness - I keep getting that and wondering if I'm imagining it. I put that down to a less than satisfactory fermentation 😕

Strange about the chill haze - it's brilliantly crystal clear here so wonder if your fridge is cooler than mine 🤔

Agree with you that it's too dry, and yeah a bit lagery too. I also think the EKG is a bit one note and maybe not my fave either.

Hopefully all these points will be addressed by my upcoming Mustang Ale! 🤞🍻

Continuing with the theme, seeing that Welshman Price will be on the darts later.

This is my last pilsner, bottled a few at the beginning of the month to free up the keg. Will be doing version 4 next
Jesus Leon you couldn't like that man. Nothing to do with him being Welsh 😄

I'm sipping what I believe to be the penultimate pint from my 5L mini keg of Mangrove Jack's Juicy Session IPA. It's true what people have said about this - it's fantastic. Took the keg to a hogmanay party at a friend's last night and he was very surprised by it too. He's a big Hazy Jane drinker and thought it was very similar. I'll definitely do this kit again.

Tonight is for finishing things.
First finished a nice bottle of red wine that I decanted for dinner then a half a bottle of Prosecco and now onto 3/4 bottle of my favourite white while watching the Witcher in blissful peace and quiet.

Homebrew Dry Irish stout. I never really noticed conditioning times (as I've always finished the batch too quickly), but this has mellowed out over the past month and become nicely balanced from tasting not too good at all.

Have a mixed box of 20 Belgian assorted beers - will have to take some photos as I try them. Chosen them this year rather than do a lucky dip.

It's Leffe for me tonight though bought from Tesco.
