Supping a couple of halves of SAISON in the dark.

It's been a long day fitting and hanging new doors upstairs (with an interlude for the England match). Whoever built our house didn't know how to use a square or a tape measure, so I've sweated buckets in today's heat planing doors so that they're tapered and off-square. What a PITA.

My first holiday beer in Suffolk. Poor selection of beers at the holiday parks bar so gonna have to rely on my holiday beer stash.
First up @cushyno Saison.
Tasty Saison , hit the spot👍🏼 only thing I would say as a downside was the carbonation was very low. View attachment 49050
Sorry about the carbonation. It was bottled from the keg. I'll have to sort out my transfer technique for future. Hope you enjoyed the beer.

Flavours were good and definitely along the lines of a classic saison. I think Saisons are definitely one of the beers that are worth going with bottle conditioning so you can get a consistent level of spritzy carbonation. I keg all my non Belgian beers and Belgian pales but bottle condition anything that should be higher carbonation.

That's a question I was going to ask today. I have only started kegging, at present I have only kegged hoppy IPAs and a Czech lager. I bottle all my Belgian beers. Surely beers that age well would be better in a bottle.
 
Mrs has gone to bed so chilling watching the football with another forum swap. This time a Brown Ale from @Hazelwood Brewery .
Dark brown, low carbonation which at 4% is definitely helping with the mouthfeel as it doesn't come across thin.fruity aroma with a little chocolate. The flavour is similar to the aroma..label says it has Simcoe, Citra and Mosiac I wouldn't say I could pick out this hops but it's going down well👍🏼

That's a question I was going to ask today. I have only started kegging, at present I have only kegged hoppy IPAs and a Czech lager. I bottle all my Belgian beers. Surely beers that age well would be better in a bottle.
I think so, don't want it taking up a keg😂 my plan going forward is if the style isn't hoppy and needs a high level of carbonation or like you say a non hoppy high Abv then better bottle conditioning.

I have noticed that the clarity from a kegged beer is excellent. Cutting out the second fermentation.
@Hazelwood Brewery do you prime your king kegs or use co2
 
This is another question for anyone who is making a Neipa. When using calcium chloride in the water adjust does if effect the amount of flavour and aroma of the hops. My last attempt scored 35 in the monthly comp. It was marked down on aroma and mouth feel.
It had 300g of hops in 19 litres.
This is my latest attempt. I upped the mash temp and calcium chloride to improve the mouth feel. Which has worked but I am again let down on hop aroma. Am I wasting my time if I am not prepared to shove 500g of hops into the beer

A few questions.
How long do you DH for? And what temps?
Do you do closed transfers and other techniques to minimize oxygen?
What hops did you use for this one?
What carb levels are you bottling at?
