Hey all,

Feel really childish doing this almost like that first day at school then again I am here to learn and ask questions lol.

My names Oli I am 22 I have been brewing on and off for the last 5 years because I have this horrible habbit of making my life difficult and nevert taking the easy route I dived in at the deepend with all grain from the get go.

I am currently in my final year of college studying mechanical engineering. Part of my course stipulates I produce a project so I figured I'd use it as an excuse to upgrade from the old 23l plastic boiler and mashtun to a 80l brew size stainless steel herms system.
Because if your going to become a tart you may aswell go the full way lol.

Lets see I dunno what else to say other than I will be doing a lot of research then probably asking a bunch of questions.

Oh and I did a weeks work experience at a 20bbl microbrewery during the summer.

Welcome matey.. Very helpful at this site.. I just started brewing a few weeks ago and lot's of guys gave me plenty of sound advice! :drunk:

I have a small set up (25L)in my spare room although I haven't told my girlfriend I about my second batch yet

I done cider and it's all bottled away now but have just tried my hand at some mexican beer - straight out the tin.. maybe try with hops and that once I have some more stripes. :drink:

Regards,

Clum :electric:

welcome sanders , sounds interesting working at a brewery . What kind of beers do you brew . :thumb:

It was a good weeks work, probably helped that one of my closest friends is a brewer there. But in all seriousness the work never felt like work the lack of stress in the worksplace was shocking lol. That and by the end of the week I did a whole brew with minimal assistance(mostly him reminding which valve went where lol).

Last beer I brewed was a 200ibu+ 6% apa which was also dry hopped. It has to be one of best beers I have tasted really well balanced I'll see if I can find the recipe.

Just out of interest and an aside if I went with the 100l hlt and copper and 80l mash tun, whats the minmum brew size I could do in it?
Might sound a strange question but I am not always going to want 80l of beer haha.

Thabks for the warm welcome everyone and don't worry there will be pictures. Now I have set the wheels in with this for college theres no way out hehe.
