Hi guy, i am getting married september next year and i am going to start brewing again in the next couple of months after a long break from the hobby. So i am hoping to learn how to make good beer, i have been reading, listening to and surfing the web for as much information on brewing as i can. I would like to give homebrew away as favours, possibly get labels made and wax dip the bottles.

So i wondering what you guy would suggest as a beer style to brew to give away and has anyone had labels made or made labels and as anyone try wax dipping bottles?

Thanks guys

I would say a strong 7% citrusy pale ale. Still remind you of summer. Are you planning a kit extract or all grain?

What a great Idea. :thumb:

Am going to stick with extract just now, i have jamil and john palmers brewing classic styles which is all extract recipes (AG recipes give as well). The pale ale from that book is going to be my first brew followed by the milk/sweet stout. How could you add the citrus notes.? would it be from hops or something like adding lemon peel?

Here is my pale ale clicky

It is quite complex on the hopping but basically the america cascade chinnock and willamete all give the citrus notes. It would be easily enough to substitute malt extract for the pale malt and partial mash the other two grains (though they are not necessarily inmportant )

It is quite bitter and very hoppy nice beer. :thumb:

Thanks for that? that is a **** load of hop

Talking with the misses we are having pumpkins as decorations (Its something she wants) so possibly a pumpkin ale. Need to try all these recipes to see if i can brew and if they taste any good lol.

It is a Sh*t load of hops as you so eloquently put it but it does taste very good. It is a clone of St Austells Proper Job IPA but rather stronger

nothing wrong with it being stronger if the alcohol doesnt over power the taste

No it has plenty of body and hops to balance it. :thumb:

Guess what I may well drink tonight :hmm:

I've been thinking of a homebrew wedding party for a while, but I guess that would be an issue with whatever venue is chosen. I love the idea of them being favours though.

Don't get married just to have a homebrew themed one. Just have a party and skip the wedding bit   Cheaper and a lot simpler in the long run.

HAHA! I'm not even engaged to be married, but SWMBO and I have talked about what sort of wedding we'd have and a free bar with homebrew was an idea, presuming we wouldn't be allowed to sell it.

Now I've written that down I've realised that it's just a much better idea to lock myself in the shed and drink all my brew myself.

Tell me about it lol. I dont have the equimpent or the experience to brew enough to have a whole wedding party but that would be amazing. If i was good enough it would allow me to spend money to the corny kegs i want (misses wot let me get them yet  )

I'd look into the legalities of giving homebrew away.

Someone told me (on here I think) that homebrew is for consumption in your home and even giving it to your neighbour is a no no.

Don't want to rain on your parade matey.

Might be worth finding out first.

Terry.

I believe its fine as I would be giving it away and not making a gain. Your not allowed to sell as you haven't paid tax or anything. Giving homebrew away is like giving any booze away I believe.

I dont think you can give it away either mate.

Have a look at the laws involved before doing so.

My choice for homebrew favours would be a wine or a champange :thumb:

I will look into the laws, its onl an idea at the moment still need see if i can make beer good enough lol. Has anyone had experience doing wax dipping?
