Yeah right. I get a 1% pay rise and they (MP's) get 11%. Sounds about right to me. And the poor darlings have lost their tea and biscuits allowance. That is really shocking. I think we should start a petition to have it restored. Can't have our noses in the trough MP's going thirsty in the afternoon. They might have to turn to their subsidised bar instead. That would be a calamity of global proportion. They might start talking sense.

I can't post much here as it will involve all the swear words i know and a few i'd make up , let's just say if said people happened to be on fire i wouldn't even p*** on them .

Unfortunately you are all missing the point. The MP's pay was set by an independent body and even though all the party leaders and probably a fair proportion of the MP's don't want it there is nothing they can do about it.

Yes they don't want it not because they think it is unfair but because it isn't likely to win them votes if they are seen to be pleased with it.

Bob be happy that you got a 1% pay rise. I have paid myself less than what someone on national minimum wage working 20 hrs a week for the last few years which probably equates to a a 60-70% pay cut.

And that, for me is the utterly hilarious bit.

MPs have been giving IPSA all kinds of hell over the last couple of parliaments.

IPSA have, in return, just created the biggest political sh*tstorm for decades.

Sit back, pour a brew and watch the buggers squirm! It'll be fascinating to see if the ones that came out in the press condemning IPSA's proposals earlier in the year will now donate their uplift in take-home to charity, which of the previous fence-sitters quietly pocket the extra and try to stay under the radar...

Bring it on!!! (rofl)

I agree with you C it will be interesting to see how many actually feel that strong about it, when it comes down to it, probably very few.

They will probably be hoping that by the time they get it and their tax returns go in and tax due, we will have forgotten about it and any pledges of giving the money away will have long been forgotten about

And what favours are the IPSA panel members getting in return. It stinks. All in it together my ****.
I was lucky i got 2.3% this year. Our lass is a nurse and she hasn't had a pay rise in three years. In fact her car allowance was taken away from her and now only gets the milage and nothing for wear and tear of the car like she use to.

Time for a revolution i would think.

That 1% was this year and follows 4 years of 0% rise. On top of that our milage has been reduced to 28p per mile and no wear and tear allowance. Then we had Single Status which took £2K a year away. I do work in the public sector. So along with everyone else we have also seen our pension substantially reduced. I suppose I should think myself lucky, at least I have a job. Not something I hope this govt will have in 18 months time. But then again they will all become directors of the business they have promoted. Oh yes we are all in this together. **** street, but some have more **** on them than others.

I think come election time I will ask my MP what he plans to do with the extra money. That should make him squirm a little.

Pay rise.........??....

Looks like I'm getting made redundant never mind a pay rise !

Of course there is. They are parliament and they are the government. They can do anything they want.

This whole "We cant do x because of y or z or because of the EU" is complete nonsense. If they wanted to they would and they could. If its illegal, they can make it legal by enacting new laws. And vice versa. Thats what they get paid for in the first place.

That is true Jonewer but it isn't in their interest at the moment to get one hence why they 'don't want one'. If there wasn't an election in the next 18 months they would be at the trough lapping it up and demanding more.

Phookin pin striped nose pickers need a good kick in in my book...11% my backside...these bunch of tosspots have caused me nowt but strife...Im a mortgage advisor by trade...nuff said...

They will be in the trough in 19 months. No doubt blaming the 'other lot' and it's nothing to do with them. Scough scough.

Yeah, that ^^^

What happened to the decent politicians? The ones who stood up for what they believed in and actually DID things that made a difference?

There have to be more decent men in Parliament than just old Tony Benn :(

I think MP`s should be paid more I think £100,000 pa...........but listen
No second job
No second house expenses
No expenses at all
No travel expenses
No hotel expenses
No food expenses

A yearly salary of £100,000, paid monthly. They should also be banned from employing a member of their family as a sectratary (sp) on silly wages.

This will sort a few of them out.

I live in a country where they had a revolution and they are just as bad. Also here the press are reluctant to report their misdemeanours! Very few polititions have any ones interest at heart except their own. That great man Nelson Mandela stood head and shoulders above any of them.
