I used First Wort Hopping in my latest brew (Cobbled HERMS).
When the wort is just comming to the boil a 2-3" head is produced, which if the boiler is too full ends up on the floor.
This did not appear to happen or did I just miss seeing it?

Fisrt wort hopping knocks the head out of the boil, Jim good if you have a very full boiler ;)

I always First Wort Hop, although I did not know that I was doing it for many brews! - It just seemed like the natural thing to do, bittering hops and a bit of gypsum into the empty boiler, then first batch sparge. It is usually just boiling before the second sparge goes in.

The only times I get near to boil-over is when I am using 500-1200 gms, e.g. Durden Park recipies.

Do you find FWH always beneficial rather than adding to the boil, or is it only for particular styles? :wha:
