Technically speaking there is no correct or incorrect usage of the English language in any form, spoken or written. There is only standard and non-standard usage.
Prescriptivism in linguistics, grammar and spelling is looked down upon by most linguists and grammarians. Linguists and grammarians should be descriptive, not prescriptive. Although paradoxically, in order for a linguist or grammarian to have any papers sent to peer review before publishing them on the topic claiming that is the case, they must be spell checked :wha:

That being said, it's rather than its should carry a sentece of public castration.
