Hey everyone

I have a variable (800 grams up to around 2 Kg if needs be) of blackcurrants in the freezer and I would like to make some wine from them. I have read CJJ's recipe which IIRC is 3lb of sugar and bcurrants. Out of interest I looked in my boots book and that used 900g of sugar, and I can't remember off the top of my head of currants 1kg possibly. But as a footnote it said due to high tannin blackcurrants don't make good wine on their own.

So can someone provide me with a good recipe that they have used and been happy with.

Many thanks

I would add no more than 1 lb of blackcurrants to at least 3 lbs of blackberries or elderberries, or a combination of the two.

Tannin shouldn't be an issue because you're looking at 1 year for it to be drinkable and 2 years for it to be spectacular.

Ok so you wouldn't suggest a plain blackcurrant then is it?

Ok. What is is, I picked some up my granddads and popped them in the freezer only then did I discover that we already had 3-4 punnet's of blackcurrants already frozen , at which point the Führer (mum) suggested I do something with them .
What are the common recipes utilising blackcurrants just out of interest, apart from blackberries and elderberries?

Edit: sorry I said tannin I just checked and it actually said high in acid hence not recommended on its own.
