Here's a link to the pub I used to work in in Bath, its more of an institution (rather the customers should be institutionalised..) but the owner wants to sell it so a co-operative is being formed and the like of Robert Plant, The Stranglers, The Eavis family (Glastonbury founders), Midge Ure, and a host of other local talent and customers are involved. Sure any one of those could buy the place many times over, but the main thing is keeping it out of the hands of the breweries who would undoubtedly ruin it..

Michael Eavis says :

"The Bell in Bath is one of the foundation stones of the vibrant live music scene here in the South West. There are fewer and fewer of such places around, providing high quality free live music, giving a chance to up-and-coming bands and welcoming back the more established ones.

“The Bell and Glastonbury Festival are both part of the same family and are trying to do the same thing in their own distinct ways. We must not allow the Bell to become just another chain pub or worse, and I would urge everyone to support this splendid community enterprise."

Robert Plant says:

"For the last ten years or so many of my musical adventures have been with friends from Bristol and Bath, so I'm fully aware of the Bell and its legacy and its contribution to the musicians and audience in the surrounding area.

“To me, the Bell is a crucial and integral venue and a great window into the world of music and entertainment in the West Country."

It really is a fantastic bar, and I miss it terribly, but I like the knowledge that it is there and I can visit it when in Bath. I hope it stays that way....

Robert Plants son runs a micro brewery in London as well, could be a good partnership.
