Hi folks
Im making a MYO (the Range) red just now but it wont calm down !!. Its been having a violent fermentation and making no effort to calm down for 2 weeks now Temp has been a steady 22 degrees .Is this normal or should i try to raise the temp a little? I was going to take a hydrometer reading but when I opened the lid it still had froth about 1" thick so no point as I couldn't get a reading .

I have made many of the Range Make Your Own kits and the Red definitely takes a lot longer to finish (more than two weeks on a heat pad) but its well worth the wait.

Many thanks I now have a vivarium heating mat strapped to side of the bucket which has popped the temp up to 24 so will keep my eye on it .The mat was cheap as chips and has a thermostat :)

Well i am definitely in favour of a bit of warmth
but don't go overboard.
High fermentation temperatures can lead to off flavours.
