Youngs American ipa 40 pints has been fermenting for 27 days, it’s still going but really slow, hydrometer reads 1008 will my brew be ok as it’s taking a long time and I’m worried about bottling it until it’s definitely finished.

Why raise another thread for same subject? Your last one was here, and folks responded.

If its still fermenting you can't bottle it. Be patient, provided you don't keep taking the lid off every 5 minutes it will be OK. Take an SG reading every other day and when the SG has stabilised you can then add the hops and then take it from there.

Hi bud my brew is still fermenting and the hydrometer readings are getting lower but very very slowly, it’s five weeks now, it tastes good so hopefully it will finally get done

Mine has been going 6 weeks! A week ago it was at 1.010. I was going to check it today but ran out of time. It has sat from 22c when fermenting vigorously down to a constant 20c since.
Before wasting the hops I’m going to have a taste to check for off flavours.
This seems to be an issue with this kit. I sent an email to Youngs a few weeks ago, seeking advice when it seemed to stall completely (in spite of a gentle rousing). I got no reply so I stirred up the whole of the trub. This restarted a slow, gentle fermentation. I’m not impressed with the reliability of the kit, but neither am I impressed with Youngs’ customer service.
