Until I got into this homebrew lark, i used to goto the supermarket and buy 10 or so bottles of ale a week - 10 different bottles that is and i enjoyed the variety. I am sure many do this. So my question is: how do you old hands at homebrewing keep up the variety or do you just drink one beer until its gone?

Perhaps the answer is to bottle and build up some choice?

I guess it's a question of supply and demand

I have been brewing 60L batches (3 kegs) of the same beer and getting bored of it so the plan this year is to still brew 60L batched bottle 20L of it, fill two kegs, put on keg to the back of the drinking order and the other to the front of the brinking order that way i'll end up with a nice stock of bottles and a rotation of beers like this:

(drink now) Beer A, Beer B, Beer C, Beer A, Beer B, Beer C (drink in the future)

Wether it happens or not...we'll see :thumb:

You hit the nail on the head with that one. Evenalthough I have a few cornies I still bottle plenty so that I can build up a stock. Its nice to be able to nip out to the garage and pick a selection for an evening.

Bottling is definately the key. I normally have 3 different batchs ( at least to choose from ). Each 40 pint batch fits in 12 x 2 litre bottles. It works well.

i had to upgrade because i was sick of brewing 5 gallons... only to run out 2 weeks later.

i now brew about 160 pints a go, keg half for immediate (well, almost ;) ) drinking and bottle the other half.

the plan is to brew so much that i can't drink it fast enough, and end up with several different beers in bottles in the garage, while the kegs supplying my bar are satisfying my immediate urges :thumb:

Who were you giving it to...there's no way you could drink that lot in 2 weeks  ...pulls tongue...

I have 4 on tap when I have stocks, so it's less of an issue for me. I tend to stick to one, get bored and move to another.
With 72ltrs on tap I rarely run out (inner feeling of warmth and smugness washes over me  )

I can't really keep more at cellar temps at the moment, and having seen what room temp does to a perfectly good beer over 3 months, I won't be stock holding until I can sort that issue out.

A few bottles might help, I have a wheelie bin full of them, but every time I open the lid, a wave of 'can't be arsed ness' washes over me, and the lid promptly gets shut
