Hi everyone,

I started my first mead on 6th December, with 4 340g jars of Lidl honey, half a jar of eucalyptus honey I had, 14g of bread yeast, a sliced up mango. This was the stuff I had on hand.

Back on 11th, and then again on 12th, I added some marmite (actually the aldi equivalent) which is yeast extract. I am thinking this works as a nutrient.

The mixture is still bubbling away.

Where did you get the idea from...haven't you also added loads of salt.....
I read it somewhere. Since I've never eaten marmite I wasn't aware it was salty.

I added a tea spoon two days ago and another a day ago. The yeast is still apparently working well. I could add something to neutralize the salt, but I don't want to get into a "swallowed a spider to catch a fly" situation.
