Hi All,

So I'm making cider from a kit, it's Mangrove Jack's Mixed Berry. It's been in the primary on the lees for 3 weeks (much longer than stated in instructions). It's quite clear but I want it even clearer.

Has anyone experience using Kieselsol/Chitosan to clear cider or beer? My biggest fear that it could affect carbonation once bottled.

I've seen mixed opinions online and would want some clarity. I used these finings to clear wine and it takes up to 48 hours sometimes. So maybe if I bottle within 24 hours there will still be some yeast leftover to carbonate?

The finings I have are Alcotec Turbo Clear, seems they are the same as Super-Kleer.

Thank you in advance.

I use Kieselsol/Chitosan regularly in beer.
No carbonation issues at all.

The kieselsol is very effective often on its own. I use about 20ml in a 25L fermenter with a very gentle stir and it drops out the precipitate in less than a day. If there is still some murkiness then I add Chitosan the following day, about 50ml.
