I tend to split a packet of yeast over two 1gl demijohns, so as it goes further, but can half a packet of yeast be stored in the fridge for any length of time? If I taped it up and used within, say, a week would it be okay? As I have to order all my yeast online, it can work out being half the cost of my gallon brew so I like to use it economically!

Can't see any issues. The tubs of yeast are just that, dried yeast in a tub to be used as and when. No issues with using a half packet at all. I wouldn't bother refrigerating. Having them re-sealed with a bit of tape should do just fine and leave you less likely to shock the yeast when re-hydrating.

used them a few weeks later (ale yeasts in shiney packets) they start and ferment fine :thumb:

Montrachet comes in a tub for 10 single uses so I don't think it's an issue...

Same as above; regularly use half a packet for one demijohn - no problems with just folding over the edge & using a rubber band
