Using a yeast cake?

I want to drop the IPA that i'm brewing today directly onto a yeast cake from my last brew....

Is it as simple as that or should I transfer the yeast cake to another sterilised FV? :hmm:

That's what I've done in the past. The way I see it is the more movement the greater the chance of infection.

Cool - I was worried about the scum lines from the last yeast head having an effect - not sure why now :lol:

I suppose if they're submerged they could impart a bitter taste to your brew....how much more bitter than 120 IBU I'm not sure :lol:

I did this with my weekend IPA.

I dropped my previous Thirst Gold/Gold Rush 1045ish brew into a secondary FV because I had no new yeast to pitch. It hadn't reached FG (was about 1022ish at the time) and is still bubbling nicely - and the IPA is bubbling beyond expectations.
